² Absolutely not!^(A) How can we who died to sin^(B) still live in it?

⁸ Now if we died with Christ,^(A) we believe that we will also live with him, ⁹ because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead,^(B) will not die again. Death no longer rules over him.^{(C) 10} For the death he died, he died to sin once for all time; but the life he lives, he lives to God. ¹¹ So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin^(D) and alive to God in Christ Jesus.^[a]

⁶ But now we have been released from the law, since we have died to what held us, so that we may serve in the newness of the Spirit^(A) and not in the old letter of the law.

¹⁹ For through the law I died to the law,^(A) so that I might live for God.^(B)

²⁰ If you died with Christ^(A) to the elements of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:

³ For you died,^(A) and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
