¹² I will strike them down with a plague^(A) and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation^(B) greater and stronger than they.”^(C)

⁵⁸ If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law,^(A) which are written in this book, and do not revere^(B) this glorious and awesome name^(C)—the Lord your God— ⁵⁹ the Lord will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses. ⁶⁰ He will bring on you all the diseases of Egypt^(D) that you dreaded, and they will cling to you. ⁶¹ The Lord will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law,^(E) until you are destroyed.^(F)

¹³ So Gad went to David and said to him, “Shall there come on you three^[a] years of famine^(A) in your land? Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you? Or three days of plague^(B) in your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer the one who sent me.”
