The Flight into Egypt

¹³ After they were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Get up! Take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to kill him.”^{(A) 14} So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt.

² There was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.^(A)

⁹ Then an angel of the Lord^(A) stood before them,^(B) and the glory of the Lord^(C) shone around them, and they were terrified.^[a]

¹⁹ But an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail during the night, brought them out, and said,^(A)
