¹⁰ And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, ^(A)“Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—^(B)so that they might accuse him.

¹⁴ But ^(A)the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus ^(B)had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, ^(C)“There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”

³ And Jesus responded to ^(A)the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, ^(B)“Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?”

¹⁰ So the Jews^[a] said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and ^(A)it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”

²³ If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, ^(A)are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man's whole body well?

¹⁶ Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not ^(A)from God, ^(B)for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, ^(C)“How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And ^(D)there was a division among them.
