²⁸ “‘Do not cut^(A) your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

¹² Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed^(A) in his name,^(B) he gave the right to become children of God^(C)—

¹⁴ For those who are led by the Spirit of God^(A) are the children of God.^(B)

⁸ In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children,^(A) but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.^(B)
