¹⁸ On that day^(A) the Lord will strip their finery: ankle bracelets, headbands, crescents,^(B)

²⁰ On that day the Lord will use a razor^(A) hired from beyond the Euphrates River—the king of Assyria^(B)—to shave the hair on your heads, the hair on your legs, and even your beards.

¹¹ On that day^(A) the Lord will extend his hand a second time to recover the remnant of his people who survive—from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the coasts and islands of the west.^(B)

⁸ On that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem,^(A) so that on that day the one who is weakest among them will be like David on that day, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord, before them.^(B)
