⁸ But he refused.^(A) “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.^(B)

²² So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.^(A)

⁴ The captain of the guard^(A) assigned them to Joseph,^(B) and he attended them.

After they had been in custody^(C) for some time,

³⁷ Then Reuben said to his father, “You may put both of my sons to death if I do not bring him back to you. Entrust him to my care,^(A) and I will bring him back.”^(B)
