Jacob Arrives in Paddan Aram

29 Then Jacob continued on his journey and came to the land of the eastern peoples.^(A)

³ Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites^(A) and other eastern peoples^(B) invaded the country.

³³ Now all the Midianites, Amalekites^(A) and other eastern peoples^(B) joined forces and crossed over the Jordan and camped in the Valley of Jezreel.^(C)

³⁰ Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East,^(A) and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.^(B)

³ and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys,^(A) and had a large number of servants.^(B) He was the greatest man^(C) among all the people of the East.^(D)

⁴ therefore I am going to give you to the people of the East^(A) as a possession. They will set up their camps^(B) and pitch their tents among you; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk.^(C)
