⁶ The Lord passed in front of him and proclaimed:

The Lord—the Lord is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth,^(A)

²² And what if God, wanting to display his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience^(A) objects of wrath prepared for destruction?^(B)

¹⁶ But I received mercy^(A) for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate his extraordinary patience^(B) as an example to those who would believe in him for eternal life.^(C)

²⁰ who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah^(A) while the ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people^[a](B)—were saved through water.

¹⁵ Also, regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our dear brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.^(A)
