¹³ This is what everyone who ^[a]is counted shall give: half a ^[b]shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (^(A)the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as a ^[c]contribution to the Lord. ¹⁴ Everyone who ^[d]is counted, from twenty years old and over, shall give the ^[e]contribution to the Lord. ¹⁵ The rich shall not pay more, and the poor shall not pay less, than the half shekel, when you give the ^[f]contribution to the Lord to make atonement for ^[g]yourselves. ¹⁶ And you shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and give it for the service of the tent of meeting, so that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for ^[h]yourselves.”

⁵ ‘^(A)Take from among you a ^[a]contribution to the Lord; whoever is of a willing heart is to bring it as the Lord’s ^[b]contribution: gold, silver, and ^[c]bronze,

²² Then all ^[a]whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and ^[b]earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did everyone who ^[c]presented an offering of gold to the Lord.

²⁹ The ^[a]Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart ^[b]moved them to bring material for all the work, which the Lord had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a ^[c](A)voluntary offering to the Lord.

³ In addition, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy ^[a]temple, ⁴ namely, ^(A)three thousand ^[b]talents of gold, from ^(B)the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the ^[c]buildings; ⁵ gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work ^[d]done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing ^[e]to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?”

⁶ Then ^(C)the rulers of the fathers’ households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with ^(D)the supervisors of the king’s work, offered willingly; ⁷ and for the service of the house of God they gave five thousand talents and ten thousand ^[f](E)darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of brass, and a hundred thousand talents of iron. ^8 [g]Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, ^[h]in care of ^(F)Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹ Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the Lord ^(G)wholeheartedly, and King David also rejoiced greatly.
