⁵ But ^(A)that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken in order to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of bondage, to entice you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. ^(B)So you shall ^[a]put away the evil from your midst.

¹⁴ And the Lord said to me, ^(A)“The prophets prophesy lies in My name. ^(B)I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, ^[a]divination, a worthless thing, and the ^(C)deceit of their heart.

¹⁵ Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, ^(A)and who say, ‘Sword and famine shall not be in this land’—‘By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed!

² “It shall be in that day,” says the Lord of hosts, “that I will ^(A)cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall no longer be remembered. I will also cause ^(B)the prophets and the unclean spirit to depart from the land. ³ It shall come to pass that if anyone still prophesies, then his father and mother who begot him will say to him, ‘You shall ^(C)not live, because you have spoken lies in the name of the Lord.’ And his father and mother who begot him ^(D)shall thrust him through when he prophesies.

⁴ “And it shall be in that day that ^(E)every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies; they will not wear ^(F)a robe of coarse hair to deceive. ^5 (G)But he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a farmer; for a man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.’
