⁴⁵ But when ^(A)the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were ^[a]blaspheming.

⁵⁰ But ^(A)the Jews incited the ^[a](B)devout women ^(C)of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their ^[b]region.

² But ^(A)the ^[a](B)unbelieving Jews stirred up the ^[b]minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against ^(C)the brothers.

^4 (A)But the ^[a]people of the city were divided; and some ^[b]sided with ^(B)the Jews, while others, with ^(C)the apostles.

⁵ And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and ^(A)the Jews with their rulers, to treat them abusively and to ^(B)stone them,

¹⁴ For you, brothers and sisters, became ^(A)imitators of ^(B)the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are ^(C)in Judea, for ^(D)you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, ^(E)even as they did from the Jews, ^15 (F)who both killed the Lord Jesus and ^(G)the prophets, and ^[a]drove us out. ^[b]They are not pleasing to God, ^[c]but hostile to all people, ^16 (H)hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles ^(I)so that they may be saved; with the result that they always ^[d](J)reach the limit of their sins. But ^(K)wrath has come upon them ^[e]fully.

¹⁷ But we, brothers and sisters, having been orphaned from you by absence for a ^[f]short while—^(L)in ^[g]person, not in ^[h]spirit—were all the more eager with great desire ^(M)to see your face. ^18 [i]For ^(N)we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, ^[j](O)more than once—and ^(P)Satan ^(Q)hindered us. ¹⁹ For who is our hope, or ^(R)joy or crown of pride, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His ^[k](S)coming? Or is it not indeed you? ²⁰ For you are ^(T)our glory and joy.
