^17 (A)So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or frail; He handed them all over to him.

⁵ But to the others He said in my ^[a]presence, “Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye have pity and do not spare.

^6 [a]Utterly ^(A)kill old men, young men, female virgins, little children, and women, but do not ^(B)touch any person on whom is the mark; and you shall ^(C)start from My sanctuary.” So they started with the ^[b]elders who were before the ^[c]temple.

⁹ And it will be, if ^(A)ten men are left in one house, they will die.

¹⁰ Then one’s ^[a]uncle, or his ^(A)undertaker, will lift him up to carry out his bones from the house, and he will say to the one who is in the innermost part of the house, “Is anyone else with you?” And that one will say, “No one.” Then he will ^[b]answer, “^(B)Keep quiet! For ^[c]the name of the Lord is ^(C)not to be mentioned.”
